30% of inner-city traffic is caused solely by finding a parking space. Motorists in large cities spend more than 60 hours of their lifetime looking for a parking space. The wasted time, the additional fuel and the additional exhaust pollution caused by the search for a parking space cost the Germans more than 40 billion euros a year.

I was part of the design team and responsible for the redesign of the ampido app IOS. I lead the UX work, producing all major deliverables and presenting these to the clients in 2018. I work alongside junior & intern designers
The current UX of the app was really in bad shape, users would easily get lost in the app. The UI was not according to the industry standards and was really not pleasing for the user. Looking at the current app was really confusing and misleading to the user.

I started my work by having discussions with the client, understanding the problem, understanding the user's needs.
Started by looking at competitors:
Best parking
Spot hero
ParkWiz
Analysing the competitors made me understand what is the UX common in all the current market leading apps and what is the current UI design standard. Which in turn made me understand ampidos UX problems and I was able to find solutions for those problems.
After doing a detailed analysis of the parking competitors, I started creating wireframes, first some sketches on the paper and some lo - fi designs to understand what I wanted to do.

Creating the sketches in the paper made a structure/skeleton of the app and gave me the direction I am going. Sketching helps in brainstorming and nailing down the best UX, also it's really easy to iterate. I had a lot of discussions about these sketches with the client before I moved to the Hi - fi prototypes.
Moving on to the Hi - fi mockups according to my sketches.
Covered multiple use cases:
User booking parking space hourly - Flow
User booking parking space monthly - Flow
Multiple versions for check out (booking online) - Flow
These use cases were covered start to finish, where I had multiple iterations and come up with these designs. Map was a crucial part of this app, as users can easily find a parking spot on the map and book it via the app. Improved the UX and also updated the UI of the app. Made the UX quite simple and easy. While for UI i have used colorful buttons, icons and easy layout for each page so the app became friendly for the user and pleasing as well. Later on I have prototyped it and made the wireframes functional so it can be easily tested by the users.

After hard work of 2 - 3 months I was able to create designs which were user friendly, enjoyable and easy to use. These were really liked by the client and they really appreciated me and I really loved working on this app, redesigning it was really enjoyable and learning for me as well.
